هذا الكتاب إضافة إلى الكتب التى تستكشف الحركة النسوية فى مصر والعالم العربى بعيداً عن الأسماء المعروفة، والتى رغم أهميتها تسدل ستاراً على غيرها من المحاولات المهمة، والواقع أن الحركة النسوية لم تكن مجرد إنشاء الإتحاد النسائى المصرى، ولا مجرد أسماء كبيرة تتردد مثل هدى شعراوى ورفاعة الطهطاوى وصفية زغلول ومى زيادة وملك حفنى ناصف، وقاسم أمين ونبوية موسى، إن ترداد هذه الأسماء وحدها يشعرنا أنها كانت جزراُ متناثرة وسط خضم من الجهود المضادة، أو كأن نضالهم كان مقطوع الصلة بالمجتمع وبالحياة فى زمنهم، وكأنه لم يكن هناك من يناضل أو يتكلم باسم النسوية غيرهم. لكن الواقع الذى ينكشف لنا، ونراه بين هذه القطع الأدبية الصغيرة القصيرة التى انتشرت فى المجلات النسائية كما انتشرت فى غيرها من الصحف والمجلات، هو أن الحركة النسوية كانت أكبر من ذلك، وأوسع انتشاراً، وأنها كانت تشتبك فى حياة الناس اليومية، وأن من تكلمن أو تكلموا باسمها كانوا أكثر عدداً بكثير.
