وقد اهتمت المؤلفة بالعديد من الدراسات ومنها فنون وحضارات تلك الشعوب ودراسة الآثار والتاريخ والمخطوطات والشعر والأدب كل هذه الدراسات تنعكس آثارها على دراسة الأزياء وتساهم في نشر الثقافة التقليدية وتحافظ عليها من الإندثار وتعتبر تسجيلاً للتراث نظراً للقيمة الحضارية والفنية للكشف عن تلك الطراز والمؤثرات التي جعلت لها الطابع المميز وإبراز الأساليب المختلفة من خلال ما تحمله من خصائص ومسميات وتحليل محتواها من نسيج وتفصيل ولون وزخرفة وما يضافإليها من مكملات للزي والزينة ومدى علاقة هذه الأزياء بالأصول التاريخية.
وتضمن الكتاب مقدمة لعلم الفولكلور والفنون الشعبية والقيم والعادات والتقاليد والرموز. وسرداً للمتاحف وقصور الثقافة ومراكز الفنون الشعبية والبيوت الأثرية بمصر. وتضمن الكتاب دراسة مستفيضة للأزياء ومكملاتها وزخرفتها وتطريزها في بعض محافظات مصر وتركيا ودول الخليج والمشرق والمغرب العربي وجنوب شرق آسيا وأوروبا. وتم تزويد الكتاب باللوحات الملونة، وجمعت المؤلفة ما جاء عن أزياء الشعوب بالدراسة الميدانية والمتاحف والمصادر والمراجع العربية والأجنبية والترجمات والمعاجم والموسوعات والمخطوطات. وهي محاولة قصد بها المؤلفة سد ثغرة في هذا المضمار وتحتاج إليها المكتبة العربية بصفة عامة والكليات المتخصصة بصفة خاصة.
