(المختار للفتوى) أحد المتون المعتبرة المعتمدة عند الحنفية، المعوّل عليها في الفتوى للإمام الفقيه عبد الله بن محمود الموصلي المولود سنة 599 هـ- والمتوفي سنة 683 ه.
حوى هذا المختصر زبدة المذهب الحنفي وثمرته في أبواب الفقه كلها، بدون ذكر للدليل، مقتصراً فيه مؤلفه على مذهب الإمام أبي حنيفة النعمان، معتمداً فيه على فتواه، دون أقوال أصحابه، إلا في خمس عشرة مسألة. اعتمد فيها قول غيره من أصحابه؛ لتغير الزمان والعرف، أو بسبب الضرورة، أو المصلحة، أو التيسير، ونحو هذا، إذ قولُ الإمام المقدّم المعتمد المختار للفتوى في المذهب، لأنه الأول والأولى، وهو الذي اختاره أكثر الفقهاء وارتضاه، كما صرح بهذا المؤلف. ولهذا المختصر أيضا، مكانة عظمى عند السادة الحنفية، وحظوةٌ كبرى في مذهبهم، فهو أحد المتون الأربعة المعوّل عليها عندهم، المقتدى بما فيها، المرجوع إليها، الموثوق بها، التي لا يذكر فيها إلا القول الراجح الصحيح، مع التحقيق والتدقيق...
وهو مختصر وجيز الألفاظ والمباني، دقيق العبارة، حسن الترتيب والسياق، فيه مسائل مهمة عملية قلّ ذكرها عند غيره، وحجمه وسط بين كنز الدقائق، ومختصر القدوري.
ولأهمية هذا المختصر دأب الأستاذ سائد بكداش إلى إثبات نصه مدققاً مصححاً، مع تعليقات لطيفة بما يناسب المقام، وقد اعتمد في خدمته على 17 نسخة خطية من أقدم النسخ وأنفسها، وأربع نسخ خطية لشرحه الإختيار... مع شرحين آخرين مخطوطين نفيسين للمختار، الأول للحضاري (ت 730 ه)، والثاني لجوي زاده (ت 953ه)، واسمه "الإيثار كل المختار".
أيضا قدم بكداش للمختار بدراسة شملت ترجمة للمؤلف وبيانا لمنهجه في المختار... مع عرض شامل لأبواب وفصول الكتاب.
