"منذ طفولتي ولعتبي دفتر وقلم... لكن... ما كنتُ قادرة على خلق أشكال الكلمات... وما كان حلمي الطائش قد وجد حبراً كافياً بعد... واليوم... خلقتُ حلمي بكثير من الحبر... رسمته نساءً عاشقات... ورجالاً... أحياناً أوفياء… كما النبلاء… وغالباً لم يأخذو من الرجولة… سوى قسوتها… حقائق أوطان مرَّة… وخيالات لأناس ما أرادوا من الحياة سوى العيش بأمان".
بهذه العبارات تبدأ الشاعرة سميرة فاضل غانم منجزها الشعري (عُمر هربان)، وبهذا المعنى تكون (المقدمة) بوابة المعنى التي تعود إليها في النهاية جميع القصائد في عالمٍ تتوحد فيه ذات الشاعرة بالنص وتشكل هويته ونوعية المرسل إليهم.
في الكتاب قصائد شعرية باللغة المحكية (اللبنانية) يسودها مناخات تنتمي إلى بيئة الشاعرة في الجبل بمعنى من المعاني لتمثل تجربة حياتية متكاملة في محاولة من الشاعرة لخلق مناخ شعوري متعاطف مع العائلة في رحلة عُمر طويلة لم يتبق منها سوى ذكريات.
تقول الشاعرة غانم في (حكاية عمر): فكرت إجمع حكاية حياتي وإكتبا… مسكت القلم وجمدت… كيف رح ابتدي؟ ومن وين؟… تاري صعب… ما أصعبا… تمسك خيوط بدايتك… ما أصعبا… تنجرح إيدك من رجع الصدى… صدى لــ جايي من أول حدودك… من برعم ورودك… من يوم ما تسميت… شي حدا… ما أصعبا… قلت: شو مهم إكتُب… حكاية عمر كلَّوا ألم… لا… ما رح اكتبا… حكايتي رح اشطبا… مرقنا بهالدني خيالات بزمن لعبة بإيدين القدر عم يلعبا".
وعلى هذا المنوال يمضي خطاب الشاعرة عبر مجموعة من الصور التي يحضر فيها لاحقاً الزوج والأولاد والوطن وغيره مما يمتلئ به عالم الشاعرة.
