وجدت كتاب "لعبة الأمم"، رغم الضجة الكبيرة حوله عندما نشر، ويستمر بعضها، فيه قليل من المعلومات السرية، وكثير من النظريات والفلسفات، والمعلومات الموجودة في مصادر أخرى.
تعكس هذه النظريات والفلسفات ليس فقط رأي كاتب الكتاب، ولكن التفكير الأمريكي العام نحو ناصر، ونحو قادة عرب أمثاله، بل ربما نحو كل القاعدة العرب. وهو، كما قلت: أولًا: تفكير مختلف جدًا عن تفكير العرب والمسلمين (وربما كل الشرقيين)، ثانيًا: تفكير استعلائي، أن لم يكن عدائيًا. من "إرهاب" ناصر حتى "إرهاب" المسلمين بعد هجوم 11 سبتمبر سنة 2001.
يوجد كتاب رئيسي آخر طبع في أمريكا عن ناصر، هو: "كايرو دوكيومنتز" (وثائق القاهرة) الذي كتبه هيكل.
ولاحظت أن كوبلاند وهيكل وناصر تعاونوا قبيل، وبعد، ثورة 1952. وبعد عشرين سنة تقريبًا، كتب كل من كوبلاند وهيكل كتابه عن ناصر. كتب هيكل عن ناصر وكوبلاند. وكتب كوبلاند عن ناصر وهيكل. ولسوء الحظ- وطبعًا القدر- لم يكتب ناصر كتابه.
لهذا، هذا الكتاب محاولة أخرى للبحث عن ناصر الحقيقي. هذه المرة من وثائق أمريكية، وطبعًا، من وجهة نظر أمريكية. لكنها، على الأقل مختلفة.
ما دام ناصر لم يكتب مذكراته، ستستمر محاولات الوصول إلى ناصر الحقيقي.
