وقال الدكتور خالد الكركي في تقديمه للكتاب إن"هذه الفصول الموجزة صورة عن صاحبها، فيها من تذكره أجمل ما في روحه ممن صفاء عرفناه بادياً عليه، ومن جهد نقدره له كلما حضرت الرابطة والتوثيق والكتابة".
وأشار الكركي إلى أسلوب المشايخ بقوله "لقد أسعفه أسلوبه في رسم الوجه الآخر لنا نحن معشر الكتاب الذين رآنا من لا يحبون الوطن كثرة لا تنفع، بينما رأينا أنفسنا تعبيراً عن وطن تمور كتابته بالجميل والنبيل".
ويضيف الكركي أن في الكتاب تفصيلا مهما وإحصاء دقيقا ولكنه خفيف على القارئ لأن الروح العذبة للمشايخ لا تفارق سطوره".
