"من النسوة اللواتي اشتغلن في دوائر التجسس والاستعلامات الألمانية، قليلات خدمن في هذا الميدان الخطر بدافع الوطنية. ومنهن من دفعهن الحب والطموح إلى الانتظام في صفوف جنود الكولونيل نيقولاي راس الدوائر السرية الأكبر، أما الباقيات وهن السواء الأعظم، فقد كانت المادة وحدها هي الدفاع لهذا إلى ركوب هذا المركب الخشن"، "لست من المعجبين بالجاسوسية الألمانية ولا بقادريها، فقد اشتغلت من العام 1913 إلى العام 1930 في محاربة أعوان الكولونيل نيقولاي وخلفائه، وبقيت من العام 1940 إلى نهاية الحرب العالمية الثانية في صراع دائم مع جماعة الفستابو العسكري ومكتب الاستعلامات الألماني، وما يزال ذكاء هؤلاء القوم ومهارتهم وإخلاصهم وبرهم بوطنهم مشاكل تجيرني ومعضلات يعجزني حلها".
يسرد المؤلف في هذا الكتاب النفس قصصاً واقعية لجاسوسات ألمانيات جّندن لخدمة ألمانيا ضد منافسيها، مستخدمين مختلف قدراتهم لاستمالة الملوك والسلاطين والقادة، ساعين لهدم وإبادة كل من يقف في طريقهن. وعلى الرغم من الخدمات الكبيرة التي قدمنها إلا أنهم حصدوا في النهاية ثمار أعمالهم الشريرة، حيث تمت إبادتهم جميعاً ولكن بأساليب مختلفة منها على يد المقاومين الفرنسيين ومنها على يد الألمان أنفسهم ومنها على يد القدر... على أن ما يمكننا قوله هو أن هذه اللمحات الخاطفة التي سردها المؤلف عن أعمال القسم النسائي في دوائر التجسس الألمانية ليست سوى قليل مما فعلته النساء اللواتي استخدمهن الألمان في التجسس والاستعلامات والوشاية.
