التوسل بالإيمان به وطاعته فرض على كل أحد في كل حال باطناً وظاهراً في حياة رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وسلم) وبعد موته في مشهده وفي مغيبه، لا يسقط التوسل بالإيمان به وبطاعته عن أحد من الخلق في حال من الأحوال بعد قيام الحجة عليه ولا بعذر من الأعذار. ولا طريق إلى كرامة الله ورحمته والنجاة من هوانه وعدائه إلا بالتوسل بالإيمان به وبطاعته وهو صلى الله عليه وسلم شفيع الخلائق صاحب المقام المحمود الذي يغبطه به الأولون والأخرون، فهو أعظم الشفعاء قدراً، وأعلاهم جاهاً عند الله، وقد قال تعالى عن موسى (وكان عند الله وجيهاً) وقال عن المسيح (وجيهاً في الدنيا والآخرة) ومحمد صلى الله عليه وسلم أعظم جاهاً من جميع الأنبياء والمرسلين، لكن شفاعته ودعاؤه إنما ينتفع به من شفع له الرسول ودعا له، فمن دعا له الرسول وشفع له توسل إلى الله بشفاعته ودعائه، كما كان أصحابه يتوسلون إلى الله بدعائه وشفاعته، صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم تسليماً.
