هذا الكتاب وضعه العالم الكبير "إبن الأثير الجزرى" في تأريخ حوداث و أخبار الدولة التى أسسها " عماد الدين زنكى" وقد أطلق عليها "الجزرى" الدولة "الأتابكية" وقد إستهوته هذه الدولة حيث أسمعه أبوه الكثير عنها فقد كان موظفاً عند ملوك الموصل منذ حكم "عماد الدين" ، وقد أورد الأحداث مصحوبة بتراجم عن كل ملك، ولم ينس أن برفق فيها وصف كامل ودقيق عن الملك أو الحاكم، وقد كانت الفترة المعنى بها حافلة بالأحداث التى شملت جميع الأقطار وإنفردت بالأخطار الخارجية متمثلة في الخطر الصليبى على العالم الإسلامى.
