تتناول هذه الدراسة المرأة في شعر المعري في كلا ديوانيه سقط الزند واللزوميات وهي مكونة من تمهيد، وثلاثة فصول وخاتمة.
أما في التمهيد فتناولت بالبحث والدراسة ذكر المرأة في شعر العصر العباسي حتى يرسم صورتها في ذلك العصر وليتبين مقدار تأثر المعري بشعراء عصره في حديثهم عن المرأة.
أما الفصل الأول والمعنون بــ "المرأة في ديوان سقط الزند" فتحدثت في المبحث الأول عن ديوان سقط الزند، والمرأة في ذلك الديوان من أم وزوجة وابنة ومحبوبة، أما في المبحث الثاني فتحدث عن قضية التأثر والإبداع عند المعري فناقش قضية السرقات الشعرية والتناص ومواقف المعري منهما.
أما الفصل الثاني والذي يحمل عنوان "المرأة في ديوان اللزوميات" فتحدثت في المبحث الأول عن ديوان اللزوميات، والأم والمرأة بشكل عام فتحدثت عن سمات المرأة وموقف المعري منها ووصاياه لها، أما عن المبحث الثاني فقد تناولت فيه التفسيرات التي كانت لمن سبق من الباحثين تستجلي موقف المعري من المرأة، فتحدثت عن تلك الأسباب التي سبقت وهي فقره أو قبحه أو عجزه الجنسي أو متأثراً بإخوان الصفا أو أنه كان يرمي إلى الإصلاح الإجتماعي.
أما الفصل الثالث الذي حمل عنوان "موازنة بين المرأة في ديوان سقط الزند واللزوميات" فقد وازنت بين صورة المرأة الأم والزوجة والإبنة والحبيبة في ديوان سقط الزند وصورتها في ديوان اللزوميات.
أما الخاتمة فاشتملت على نتائج الكتاب.
