في صيف عام 1947 ، توحدت المنظمتان الشيوعيتان السريتان : الحركة المصرية للتحرر الوطني وأيسكرا ، في تنظيم جديد هو الحركة الديمقراطية للتحرر الوطني ( حدتو).
لعب هذا التنظيم دورا اساسيا ، ليس فقط بين المنظمات الشيوعية العديدة ، بل في الحياة السياسية المصرية.
وعلي نحو يتداخل فيه السرد التاريخي والفني والمقابلة الشخصية وإعادة قراءة تراث شيوعي الحلقة الثانية ، يتابع الكتاب الوقائع والاحداث داخل المنظمات السرية المختلفة ،ثم سنوات التعذيب المروع منذ فجر الاول من يناير1959 ، وحتي صيف 1964 ، حين أفرج عن الشيوعيين بعد اعتقال دام خمس سنوات متواصلة ، وبعد شهور الضغط والتهديد تم حل حدتو ، وهي الخطيئة التي لم يغفرها أبناء حدتو لانفسهم مطلقا .
