منذ البدء منذ ان وعى الإنسان بوجوده وهو يبحث عن الآخر، فحينما نظر آدم حوله في الجنة واكتشف وجود أشياء مختلفة عنه، من جماد ونبات وحيوان، شغلته هذه الأشياء باعتبارها كائنات / مخلوقات مختلفة عنه منذ ذلك الحين بدأت النظرة إلى الآخر وجرت محاولة سبرأغواره ومعرفة مكنوناته، أي أننا منذ بد الخلق ونحن نريد ان نعي الآخر في الوقت الذي نحاول فيه أن نعي ذواتنا واستمرت هذه المحولات إلى الآن. ومالديانات في جوهرنا إلا تقنين للعلاقة مع الآخر وضبطها وجاءت النظريات الفلسفية في هذا المجال لتختصير الوجود كلة في مقولة الأضداد : الذات والآخر وما الوجود الإنساني على الأرض إلا قصة المحاولة : محاولة إدراك الذات والتعرف علي الآخر لكن منتى تبدأ معرفة الآخر؟ المشكلة جد عويضه وبالغة التعقيد وزادها تعقيدا ان اليهودية في محاولتها التعرف على الآخر قامت "بنفيه" وأبعدته عن دائرة الذات فصار مقولة "شعب الله المختار و" الشعب وارث الأرض".. إلخ. وجاء الإسلام في محاولة لتصحيح هذه النظرة النفاقية للآخر ليضع معايير محددة للتفاعل مع الآخر.
