سبق أن عالجنا في مؤلف تاريخ النظم الاجتماعية والقانونية القانون الفرعوني باعتباره شريعة هامة من بين الشرائع الرئيسية التى سات العالم القديم في الفترة ما بين الألف الرابع والألف الأول قل الميلاد ومن ثم كان منطقيا أن نبدأ دراستنا في هذا المؤلف بتاريخ القانون المصري في العصر البطلمي. ذلك ان تاريخ مصر الفرعونية ينتهي بفتح الاسكندر الاكبر لمصر في عام 332 ق.م، واستقبال المصريين له بالترحاب استقبال البطل المنقذ لهم من الحكم الفارسي الظالم.
ويبدأ في نفس الوقت نظام تاريخي جديد لمصر. وسيكون هدفنا من وراء دراسة هذا العصر وضع هيكل مترابط واستخلاص مبادئ عامة للنظم القانونية كلما امكن ذلك على ضوء أحدث ما اكتشف من وثائق وبرديات ونقوش وما اعد من أبحاث.
