الأم كانت طفلة فلما كبرت تزوجت فصارت زوجة ولما أنجبت صارت أما وفى كل مرحلة من هذه المراحل لها حقوق وعليها واجبات. فحقوقها وهى طفلة حسن تربيتها والعناية بها وتغذيتها وكسوتها وتعليمها وتنشئتها التنشئة الصالحة وفق قواعد الدين والأخلاق وهى فى هذه المرحلة ليس عليها من واجب سوى إحترام أبويها وطاعتهما وتظل فى أخصائهما حتى تكبر وتتزوج.
وحقوقها وهى زوجة أن يطعمها زوجها مما يأكل ويلبسها كما يلبس ولا يضرب وجهها ولا يقبحها ولا يهجريا إلا فى البيت أخذا بتعليمات الإسلام وتوجيهات الديانات الأخرى. أما واجباتها فهى طاعة زوجها وتربية أطفالها والاهتمام بشئون منزلها والحفاظ على مال زوجها وعلى نفسها.
