مضى أكثر من ثلاثين عامًا يوم أن التقيت إحدى زميلاتي ونحن عائدين من بعثاتنا الخارجية وكانت هي قد سبقتني في عودتها بعدة أشهر قليلة. سألتها حينها كيف الحال، فاجأتني بإجابتها قالت لي "الصرصار لسة بستة أرجل". مرت سنين طويلة بعدها حتى بلغ العمر لما أنا فيه الآن.
حاورت نفسي على مدى كل هذه الأعوام وتساءلت هل سيظل همنا هو كيف نستفيد من الحشرات النافعة ونحاول أن نقضي على الحشرات الضارة، ومع مرور الأعوام وبلوغ العمر مراحله المتقدمة لم نستطع نحن المتخصصين أن نقضي على أي حشرة ضارة، بل أكثر من ذلك تستطيع الحشرات بعد أن يقضي كلًا منا نحبه أن تتغذى على أجسامنا.
حتى لو افترضنا قيام حربًا نووية سوف تتحمل الحشرات هذه الحرب. يقول أحد العلماء أنه في حالة التعرض لهجوم نووي، فإن كل كائن حي يقع في نطاق 10 أميال من موقع انفجار القنبلة سوف يستنشق غبارها النووي ويهلك باستثناء الصراصير. وقد توصل الدكتور فرانز ويلشتاينر- وهو أحد عباقرة البيئة العاملين بالمركز الأمريكي لأبحاث الطوارئ الذرية بعد دراسة استمرت 30 عامًا وتركزت حول مدى مقاومة الإنسان والحشرات لظروف الحرب النووية. يقول ويلشتاينر "أن الصراصير مخلوقات مثيرة للحيرة. فقد ظلت هذه الحشرات تنتشر في كل البيوت منذ أكثر من 280 مليون عام، أي منذ العصر الكربوني.
فالصرصور يستطيع أن يعيش بدون أي طعام لمدة شهر كامل. وبدون رأس لمدة أسبوع. ويمكن لقلبه أن يتوقف ساعة كاملة دون أن يقل نشاطه. ويمكن لهذا المخلوق العجيب أن يتوقف عن التنفس لمدة 45 دقيقة دون أن يصيبه أي مكروه. كما أن الصراصير تتمتع بنوع من الكروزومات في جيناتها الوراثية تحول بينها وبين الهلاك.
أما نحن فسوف نهلك بمجرد استنشاقنا للغبار النووي، فيما تبقى الصراصير لتواصل مسيرة الحياة وحدها.
من هنا بدأت فكرة هذا الكتاب، هو رؤية تحليلية حاول فيها معد هذا الكتاب ربط الآية القرآنية الكريمة ومقولة ترابط عناصر الحياة في إيجاد رابط بين سلوك الإنسان والحشرات.
