ولد في ركيافيك، العاصمة الآيسلندية، العام 1962.
نشر أولى مجموعاته وهو في سنّ السادسة عشرة.
وتتالت مؤلّفاته بعد ذلك لتشمل الشعر، الرواية، المسرحيات وكتب الأطفال.
رشّح اسمه لنيل أوسكار أفضل أغنية كتبها في فيلم "راقصة في الظلام".
Book Description
إنه العام 1883. منظر طبيعي في شتاء آيسلندا القاسي يمثُل كخلفيّة للمشهد. نتبع الكاهن بلدور سكوغَّسون في مطاردته ثعلباً أزرق غامضاً. لكنّه ما إن يضغط على الزناد، حتى ننجرف بعيداً إلى عالم «فريدريك ب. فريدريكسون» ذي المذهب الواقعي، والفتاة «أبّا» عُهدتُه التي تعاني متلازمة داون. كان فريدريك قد وصل مصادفة خلال تخليصها، بعد أن عُثِرَ عليها العام 1868 مقيّدة إلى دعائم خشبية داخل سفينة جانحة.
شخصيات الرواية مصائرها مترابطة بصورة جوهرية، وتدريجياً، وفي سياق مفاجئ، سيتكشَّف أن جزءاً من هذه الحكاية الأخّاذة مشتمل على الخرافة، وجزءها الآخر مشتمل على الغموض.
