القصيدة التي ننشرها اليوم قصة.. فقد كان الشاعر في مؤتمر برلماني دولي عقد في إسبانيا خلال شهر إبريل الماضي، وبعد انتهاء المؤتمر انطلق إلى الأندلس يزوره لأول مرة، وهناك رأى صوراً كثيرة من تلك الأيام الجميلة "الذاهبة" وهاجمته ذكريا الأمجاد العربية، وهزته آثار حضارتنا الدارسة في الأندلس فبدأ يكتب هذه القصيدة.. ثم عاد إلى السودان يخوض صراع النهار والليل ضد قوى التخلف والاستعمار.. وفجأة وقع عدوان 5 حزيران.. وكان ما كان.. واضطرمت شاعريته بالغضب يخالجه الأسى فأكمل هذه القصيدة التي تعتبر بحق إحدى روائع شيخنا الكبير.. قصيدة بدأها في إبريل بين آثار الأجداد في قرطبة وختمها منذ أيام بين آمال الأحفاد في الخرطوم..
