هذا الكتاب هو محاولة لرصد وتوثيق ما جرى قبل 30 يونيو 2013، والدور الذي لعبته حملة تمرد في خروج ملايين المصريين بهذا العدد الضخم، ربما لأول مرة في تاريخ مصر، ورغم أن الفترة الزمنية التي يرصدها الكتاب لا تزيد عن أشهر، إلا أن الأحداث المتتابعة والمتشابكة التي سبقت سقوط الإخوان والتي تلت ثورة 30 يونيو، جعلت الحاجة ماسة وضرورية لرصد هذه الفترة من عمر الوطن، لأنها قد تكون كاشفة بعض الشيء لاستشراف المستقبل.
ولأن تمرد كانت سباقة في زلزلة حكم الإخوان، وإسقاط نظام حكم المرشد، وعزل الدكتور محمد مرسي، فإن التركيز انصب على حملة "تمرد" بدءًا من طرحها كفكرة داخل حركة كفاية، وتنصل الحركة منها، والإجابة على كثير من الأسئلة التي تتعلق بأسرار الحملة سواء على مستوى الفكرة أو الأعضاء وشكل العلاقات بينهم؟، وعلاقة تمرد بمؤسس التيار الشعبي حمدين صباحي، وهل هناك علاقة مباشرة ربطت تمرد بجهاز المخابرات لإسقاط حكم الإخوان؟ ورصد الصدام بين جهاز المخابرات وبين قيادات مكتب الإرشاد في مثير من الملفات والمواقف، خلال عام، وهل لعب محمد حسنين هيكل دورًا في التقريب بين تمرد والمؤسسة العسكرية؟، ولماذا كان الحديث عن تمويل الحملة محورًا رئيسيًا في ظهور الخلافات داخلها.
