تعتبر حركة الصحوة الإسلامية أو الحركة الإسلامية ظاهرة عظيمة وشاملة يمر عليها قرنان من الزمن وقد شهدت خلال القرنين الأخيرين الكثير من التحولات الإيجابية والسلبية واقرنت ببعض نقاط الضعف والقوة، وحققت في بعض المقاطع الزمنية إنتصارات عظيمة وواجهت تارة أخرى بعض حالات الإحباط أو الفشل في مناطق أخرى.
وقد ظهرت هذه الحركة في البداية في مناطق جغرافية خاصة ومحدودة ثم توسعت رقعتها في العقود الأخيرة ثم انتشرت بشكل تدريجي في كافة أرجاء العالم الإسلامي الممتد من شرقي آسيا وحتى جنوب غربي أفريقيا؛ لقد تبلورت الإتجاهات الفقهية والكلامية والسياسية المتعددة في هذا الإتجاه حيث تتمتع بالمزيد من التعددية تتقارب تارة فيما بينها وأخرى تتقاطع معها وتكون في تضاد شديد ما بين أفراط وتفريط من التطرف.
ومع إنتصار الثورة الإسلامية الرائعة دخلت الصحوة الإسلامية مرحلة جديدة تاركة تأثيرها على الأنظمة السياسية الموجودة في العالم الإسلامي حتى وتركت آثارها على الأنظمة السياسية الموجودة في العالم الإسلامي حتى وتركت آثارها على حياة المسلمين ونوع علاقتهم بالحكومات الموجودة، واليوم قد تبلور الحضور القوي لهذه الحركة في المعادلات السياسية في العالم حيث ادخل الذعر بشكل واضح في نفوس القوى الكبرى وبات الإسلام السياسي ماثلاً أمامها يشكل أكبر تحد ليواجهها بعد الحرب الباردة.
وتشكل معرفة هذه الحركة الميمونة والمباركة والمسيرة التي قطعتها وآفاقها المستقبلية وزعمائها ونشطائها في الماضي وفي والوقت الراهن والتيارات الفكرية ونقاط ضعفها وقوتها وحالات التطرف والخروج عن مساراتها الفكرية والثقافية والسياسية تشكل ضرورة لا بد منها في سبيل بلورة هذه الحركة وإنسجامها ونجاحاتها المستقبلية.
لذلك قد اختير عنوان المؤتمر الدولي السابع عشر للوحدة الإسلامية تحت موضوع "الصحوة الإسلامية آفاقها المستقبلية وترشيدها"؛ وينطوي هذا الكتاب الذي نقدمه إلى القارئ الكريم على مجموعة من المقالات المختارة لهذه المؤتمر العلمي والثقافي الكبير.
