هذا الكتاب يتناول "تاريخ الجالية الأرمنية في مصر في القرن التاسع عشر" والموضوع- كما يرى القارئ- جديد في حقل الدراسات التاريخية المصرية، ونحن نرحب به في هذه السلسلة على أمل أن يشجع الباحثين عامة، والجامعيين خاصة، على خوض هذا اللون من الدراسات، فنرى رسائل علمية عن الجاليات التي امتلأت بها مصر في القرن التاسع عشر! ففيما عدا الدراسة القيمة التي قدمها الدكتور مسعود ضاهر، الأستاذ بالجامعة اللبنانية عن: "الهجرة اللبنانية إلى مصر"، "هجر الشوام"، والتي صدرت في منشورات الجامعة اللبنانية، قسم الدراسات التاريخية، في عام 1986 في بيروت، فإنا لا نجد اهتماماً يذكر من جانب الباحثين المصريين بمثل هذا الجانب من جوانب الدراسة التاريخية.
