يقوم مذهب التحليل النفسي- والذي أسسه سيجموند فرويد لهدم وتقويض الأديان، واجتثاث التدين من قلوب البشر- على إنكار وجود الذات العليا، ورفض وحي السماء، ونبذ الفطرة، والتخلي عن الأخلاق والقيم الفاضلة. طبق فرويد مذهبه على النبي موسى "عليه السلام" ليبرهن على أن الأديان ما هي إلا أوهام شبيهة بهذيان المصابين بالأمراض العقلية. تأثرت حفنة من أبناء المسلمين بمذهب التحليل النفسي، فترجموا مؤلفات فرويد، وتبنوا أفكاره ودرسوها، ومارسوا طرقه في العلاج النفسي، وكتبوا الكتب والمقاولات لنشر آرائه، ومنهم من ذهب إلى أبعد من ذلك فطبق مذهب التحليل النفسي على أنبياء الله. لقد ظلت المكتبة العربية تفتقر إلى كتاب يتناول مذهب التحليل النفسي بالتحليل والنقد الموضوعي من خلال رؤية إسلامية، فجاء هذا الكتاب ليسد هذه الثغرة. يستعرض الكتاب في فصوله المختلفة مقومات مذهب التحليل النفسي وموقفه من الدين، ويرد على الشبهات التي يثيرها دعاة هذا المذهب حول الوحي الإلهي وأنبياء الله ومكانة الدين في النفس البشرية.
