يتناول هذا الكتاب موضوع الدفن في مقبرة "وادي السلام" في النجف الأشرف، وما فيه من خصائص وأحكام وقصص فيها الكثير من العبر للمسلمين، فما هو وادي السلام؟ وأين يقع؟ وما هي خصائصه؟.
وادي السلام: إسم للوادي الكبير الواقع بالجانب الشمالي الشرقي من مدينة "النجف الأشرف" في العراق، وفيه يُدفن الموتى من أهل العراق ومن كل العالم. وكان الإمام علي (رضي الله عنه) قد أوصى أن يُدفن في "ظهر الكوفة" وتحديداً في ربوة عالية تسمى "الذكوات البيض" وكان إلى جانب تلك الربوة واد كبير صار فيما بعد مدفناً للمؤمنين عُرف بـ "وادي السلام"، فوادي السلام بجوار أمير المؤمنين المدفون في "النجف الأشرف".
تأتي أهمية التعريف بوادي السلام من قداسة هذا الوادي، والمقبرة التي تقع فيه حيث يعتبرها المسلمون من أشرف الأراضي وأقدسها، لأنه مرقد أمير المؤمنين ومعه آدم ونوح عليهم السلام كما جاء في هذا الكتاب.
يتوزع الكتاب على خمسة فصول: تضمن الفصل الأول تعريف بوادي السلام، وتاريخ الدفن في وادي السلام، وظهور قبر الإمام علي فيه ... الخ. أما الفصل الثاني فيحدد لنا خصائص وادي السلام وهي: مجاورة الإمام علي، الإستجارة، رفع العذاب، تلاقي الأرواح وقصص أخرى مرتبطة بوادي السلام مثل قصة الشيخ البهائي، والشيخ عباس القمي، والنراقي وآخرون ...، أما مزارات ومشاهير المدفونين في وادي السلام فكانت حديث الفصل الثالث، وعن أدب القبور تحدث الفصل الرابع. وأما الفصل الخامس والأخير فجاء فيما قيل في وادي السلام من الأشعار وفيه قصيدة للشيخ عبد المنعم الفرطوسي ...
