يعتبر إختبار الرورشاخ من أحد أساليب التداعي حسب تصنيف الأساليب الإسقاطية، ويعد هذا الإختبار من الناحية التاريخية أو الأساليب الإسقاطية في تقويم الشخصية وقد وضع هذا الإختبار الطبيب النفسي السويسري هيرمان رورشاخ عام 1911، أما الكتاب الذي بين يدينا الآن فهو من تأليف روي شيفر والذي اعتمد فيه على الدراسة التحليلية النفسية لمحتوى الرورشاخ بصفة خاصة، ومساهمات التحليل النفسي في الإختبار الإسقاطي بصفة عامة، مما يضفى عمقاً وفهماً أشمل للديناميات النفسية عن طريق التفسير الحر والذي يعتمد على فنيات التحليل النفسي، والذي يختلف عن التفسيرات الكلاسيكية لإختبار الرورشاخ، وهو مما يزيد من أهمية الإختبار وفاعليته في الكشف وبشكل دقيق ومتعمق عن النواحي المرضية والمعاونة على القيام بعمليتي التشخيص والعلاج للحالة والذي يعتمد على ممارسات العلاج النفسي التحليلي وهو ما جعل هذا الإختبار هو إختبار تفهم موضوع (التات) من أوسع الإختبارات النفسية شيوعاً وإنتشاراً وأكثرها إستخداماً في العيادات النفسية.
