فى عالم اليوم الملئ بالتقدم العلمى والتكنولوجى اصبحت الحاجة غلى التعليم وأهميته شئ لامراء، حيث لا مكان للجهلاء فى عالم مفتوح القوة فيه لمن يمتلك المعرفة والعلم قبل أى شئ آخر.. ومن بداية العصر الحديث أدرك كافة المفكرون على أختلافهم هذه الأهمية فكانت أشهر المقولات هى مقولة طه حسين "التعليم كالماء والهواء" هى الأكثر تعبيراً عن شئ واقع فعلاً، اليوم تعتبر المؤسسات الدولية التعليم حق من حقوق الإنسان .. وفى ظل كل هذا نجد الوضع فى عالمنا العربى بين شقى الرحى، نسبة كبيرة ومرتفعة من الأمية، حاجة ملحة للحاق بالركب الأممى ونظام سوق مفتوح يقوم على العرض والطلب فى عالم كالقرية الصغيرة.. هذا كله يجعل لتلك الدراسة التى وضعتها "سارة مسعود" فى هذا الكتاب أهمية كبيرة حين تعلن أن "التعليم للجميع" وهو نداء ليس حلماً وإنما دراسة علمية تناولت فهيا الباحثة الوضع التعليمى الحالة فى واقع المجتمع المصرى، ومعوقات تنفيذ هذه الفكرة.. ثم عرضت تصورها المقترح لتحقيق مشروع التعليم للجميع مفندة فكرة تعارض المجانية فى التعليم مع جودته.
