بين يدينا كتاب حوى درراً من معاني الحديث الكريم وشرح غريبه وفقهه، دلّت مادته على علوّ قدر صاحبه وسعة اطلاعه وغزير علمه، إلا وهو كتاب "الكاشف عن حقائق السنن" للإمام شرف الدين حسين بن عبد الله الطيبي، شرح فيه كتاب "مشكاة المصابيح" الذي صنفه الخطيب التبريزي بإيعاز من شيخه، وهو الإمام الطيبي، كما ذكر ذلك في آخر كتابه "الإكمال في أسماء الرجال"، وذكر ذلك أيضاً الإمام الطيبي في مقدمة شرحه على الكتاب. وقد تمّ الخطيب التبريزي بهذه المشكاة كتاب "مصابيح السنة" للإمام البغوي حيث أنه سار فيها على نهجه، وزاد فيها على ما أنتجه الإمام البغوي زيادات نافعة، فقد أضاف الراوي للحديث، وأيضاً ذكر مصدر الحديث من كتاب الأئمة الأعلام، وكذلك زاد فيها فصلاً ثالثاً عما وضعه الإمام البغوي، وذكر فيه ما يختصّ الباب الذي ترجمه الإمام البغوي من الأحاديث التي قد تحوي الصحيح وغيره. وذلك بالرجوع إلى مصنفات الأئمة المشهورين، مما لم يذكره الإمام في مصابيحه.
ولما كان كتاب شرح الطيبي من المصنفات الهامة التي يحتاج إلى مطالعتها كلّ طالب ومطّلع على كتب التراث الإسلامي، لهذا عني المحقق "محمد علي سمك" بتخريجه في هذه الطبعة التي بين يدينا، محققاً، أما عمله في التحقيق فيتجلى بـ: أولاً: تخريج أحاديث المشكاة جميعها. ثانياً: تخريج معظم الأحاديث التي أوردها الطيبي في شرحه. ثالثاً: تخريج الآيات القرآنية التي أوردها الطيبي في شرحه على المشكاة. رابعاً: إثبات الفروق بين نسخة دار الكتب المصرية والكتاب المطبوع. خامساً: وضع التعليقات التي تبين منهج أهل السنة والجماعة في الاعتقادات، مثل عقيدة الأسماء والصفات، حيث أن الإمام الطيبي كثيراً ما يتجه إلى تأويل الصفة إلى غير ظاهرها، خلافاً لطريقة أهل السنة والجماعة في إقرارها كما جاءت عن الله وعن رسوله الكريم صلى الله عليه وسلم دون تأويل أو تعطيل أو تشبيه. سادساً: وضع بعض التعليقات اللغوية لبعض الكلمات التي وردت أثناء شرح الشيخ على المشكاة. سابعاً: وضع ترجمة مختصرة للإمام الطيبي، وكذلك للخطيب التبريزي.
