ورغم كثرة دعاوى الإصلاح فى الوطن العربي- معظمها يتخذ منحى شكلياً دون التوغل فى عمق اللحظة اجتماعياً وثقافياً وسياسياً- نجد أدباء ومفكرين يدخلون السجن نتيجة آرائهم وأفكارهم وإبداعهم، فى وقت نحن فيه أحوج ما نكون إلى استثمار تلك العقول، والاستفادة من نتاجها الفكري، لكن للأسف ما زالت السلطات السياسية تمارس لعبتها المحببة "لعبة القط والفأر" ، معتبرة الثقافة خطيئة لابد ان يدفع المشتغلون بها الضريبة الباهظة من حياتهم وراحتهم وحريتهم.
وياليت هؤلاء يعلمون أن الحرية الفكرية هى المفتاح الحقيقي لأى تطور أو تقدم أو تنمية إنسانية، على اعتبار أن البشر هم الثروة الحقيقة للأمم، وأن أولويات التنمية الإنسانية توسيع خيارات البشر.
