يتناول كتاب " بأبيها فخورة " قصة عائشة التي عاشت مع والدها المريض بالسرطان حيث لم تكن تعلم أنها ستخرج من هذه التجربة بشخصية مغايرة وأكثر عزماً وقوة، يتم التدرج في الأحداث بداية بالتعريف عن والدها وكيف كان محباً للأدب واللغة العربية وعن دراسته وحبه لدولة الكويت إلى أن اكتشف إصابته بالمرض وسافر إلى ألمانيا وأخفى الأمر عنها عن إخوتها الثلاث ، إلى أن ودعته إلى لقاء في الجنة وكيف صارعت الحياة من بعده ونجحت رغم كل الظروف. في تجربتها الكتابية الأولى ، الكتاب ليس رواية أو قصة قصيرة في حد ذاتها، وإنما خمسة عشر فصلاً يحكي كل فصل عن موقف مرت به منذ حياة والدها إلى مرضه ثم وفاته ، وما فعلته من بعده.
