رغبت في اختيار موضوع لم تستهلكه الألسنة والأقلام ليكون الجهد المبذول مثمراً بأذن الله، فاستشرت مشرفي الدكتور طلال يحيى إبراهيم الطوبجي، فاقترح عليّ دراسة: "ظاهرة التنكير وأثرها في بناء الجملة العربية وتوجيهها".
فشرح الله صدري لدراسة الموضوع، ذلك أن هذا الموضوع- حسب علمنا- لم يطرق في دراسة جامعية، أو كتاب مؤلف، أو بحث منشور، وأن دراسة كهذه تكشف عن حقيقة جهد الباحث، وتفتح الباب لدراسات لاحقة بإذن الله سواء على المستوى التركيبي أو المستوى الدلالي.
وبعد قراءة واسعة ومكثفة في التراث النحوي انكشفت لنا خطة البحث التي استوت في تمهيد وفصول ثلاثة، إذ نهض التمهيد بالكشف عن عناية الدارسين العرب بظاهرة التنكير بعد أن كشف عن مرتكزات البحث الأساسية (النكرة، والبناء، والجملة) فقدم صورة موجزة عن عناية النحاة البلاغيين والأصوليين والمناطقة بالموضوع قيد الدرس، أما الفصل الأول فقد خصص لدراسة تنكير المسند والمسند إليه، والفصل الثاني: تنكير المكملات والتوابع، والفصل الثالث: أثر التنكير في ظواهر تركيبية في بناء الجملة.
