إن التفكير في الظواهر الإجتماعية والإحساس بضرورة فهم هذه الظواهر ودراستها أمر كامن في داخل الذوق العام لكل أعضاء المجتمع فكأننا في هذه الدراسة سوف نعطي صوراً للفكر الإجتماعي، ولا يعني ذلك أننا نبدأ مع أول خيط من خيوط هذا الفكر وإنما هي بداية تحكمية على أي حال، وأود أن أشير في هذا الصدد إلى أن العلوم الإجتماعية التي نعرفها اليوم متميزة متخصصة ومتشعبة إلى فروع قد نشأت نشأة واحدة كما لو كانت علماً واحداً يتناول المجتمع بجذوره وفروعه، ثم ما لبثت بعد ذلك أن تخصصت وإن كانت اليوم تنزع نحو التكامل مرة أخرى حينما ظهر للمتخصصين، أن ذلك التخصص الضيق، المحدود كان على حساب معرفة "الكل المركب" الذي تسعى إليه كل هذه الدراسات إلى تحليله ثم إعادة تركيبه من جديد.
