تقع في حياة الناس حوادث ونوادر لم تتكرر لغيرهم فيعرفون بتلك النوادر ويتميزون بها, أما مع الصحابة الذين تميزوا بميزات عديدة جعلتهم خير البشر بعد الأنبياء فإن الأمر مختلف؛ فكان منهم (أبو بكر رضي الله عنه) مَن يعدل إيمانه إيمان الأمة بأكملها, و(الفاروق رضي الله عنه) الذي فرَّق الله به بين الحق والباطل، و(عثمان رضي الله عنه) الرجل الذي تستحي منه الملائكة, و(علي رضي الله عنه) حامل اللواء يوم خيبر ومجندل الكفار في المشاهد كلها مع النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وزوج سيدة نساء العالمين، ومنهم مَن إذا أقسم على الله عز وجل لأبره, ومَن غسلته الملائكة, ومَن اهتز لموته عرش الرحمن, ومن شيَّعته الملائكة يوم مماته, وغيرهم من الصحابة الذين اشتهروا بصفات خاصة بهم ولازمة لهم.
والكتاب الذي بين يديك- عزيزي القارئ- حافل بمجموعة من النوادر, والنادرة - كما حددها المؤلف - ليست الطرفة وإنما الأمر النادر الذي اختُصَّ به الصحابي في موقف ما وعرف واشتهر بها, مع ذكر ظروف هذه النوادر ووقت حدوثها وكيف حدثت, ومع من حدثت, والكتاب يعرض هذه النوادر ليس للترويح عن القلب فقط- وإن كان هذا أمرًا مهمًّا- وإنما لنأخذ منها الدرس المستفاد والموعظة الحسنة, وصدق الإمام علي كرَّم الله وجهه إذ قال: إن القلوب تمل كما تمل الأبدان فابتغوا لها طرائف الحكمة.
