بعد الجدل الذي قام حول "كتاب النفراوي" الروض العاطر في نزهة الخاطر عند القيام بترجمته إلى الإنكليزية، إذ اعتبر بعض الأدباء بأن هذا الكتاب هو من الكتب السيئة الرخيصة…وأن ترجمته للإنكليزية دعاية سيئة للقرآن العربي الإسلامي بينما اعتبره البعض أن الكتاب هي من كتب التراث الذي يمكن الاعتزاز بها، ومن خضم هذا الجدل برزت فكرة إصدار هذا الكتاب الذي نقلب صفحاته والذي جاء حول كتاب (الروض العاطر)، ليزيل الالتباس الذي وقع في أذهان الناس حيث ضم مختارات من (الروض العاطر…) تتلاءم مع الذوق العام…مع مراعاة إغفال الألفاظ النابية، كما وجدت بعض التعديلات الثانوية التي لم تؤثر على مضمون وروح الكتاب، وقد تضمن الكتاب طائفة من شهادات بعض الأدباء حول هذا الكتاب.
يقع الكتاب في ثلاثة أقسام هي: 1-المعلومات والإرشادات الطبية للزوجين. 2-ممارسة الحب والجنس. 3-الحكايات الجنسية المكشوفة. وما زال الكتاب وقد نقل مترجماً إلى أكثر لغات العالم يطبع ويعاد طبعه مرات ومرات حتى بيع منه في طبعه واحدة خمسة ملايين نسخة لما إمتاز به من اليسر والسهولة والسلاسة في تقديم المعلومات والنصائح من خلال الأمثلة والقصة والحكايات.
