هذا جزء لطيف للإمام الحافظ شمس الدين محمد بن عبد الرحمن السخاوي، جادت به قريحته، ودبجه يراعه. فتكلم فيه فصال وجال حول كتاب "السنن الكبرى" للإمام الهمام الناقد البصير أبي عبد الرحمن النسائي برواية الإمام أبي بكر بن الأحمر. بين فيه منهج المؤلف، وما فيه من الفوائد العوائد، وقارن رواية ابن الأحمر بباقي الروايات للسنن الكبرى وما في كل رواية من نقص أو زيادة، ثم ختم الرسالة بترجمة وافية للإمام النسائي، إلى غير ذلك من الفوائد الفرائد التي ضمّها هذا الجزء.
وهذا النوع من المؤلفات أطلق عليه بـ"الختم"، وهو عبارة عن بيان مناهج مؤلفي تلك الكتب في انتقائها وتصنيفها وخلاصة الاستقراء التام لتلك المناهج. ولأهمية هذا العمل عني "جاسم بن حمود الفجي" بتحقيقه، مقسماً عمله في التحقيق إلى قسمين هما: القسم الأول: تعريف بابن الأحمر، وبالكتاب المحقق ويشمل هذا القسم على مباحث هي: المبحث الأول: ترجمة موجزة لابن الأحمر، المبحث الثاني: مسائل أثيرت حول الإمام النسائي منها التشييع، إتيان المرأة في دبرها، شرب النبيذ، المبحث الثالث: اسم الكتاب، وتوثيق نسبته، المبحث الرابع: وصف النسخة المعتمدة في التحقيق، المبحث الخامس: منهج المحقق. ثم ألحق بها فهارس علمية مفيدة لكل مطلع ودارس لهذا النوع من الكتيب وهي: 1-المصادر والمراجع، 2-الأعلام، 3-الموضوعات.
