يقدم تاريخ الدولة العربية الإسلامية منذ عصر البعثة النبوية الشريفة وحتى سقوط الدولة الأموية، بادئًا بعرض لتاريخ العرب قبل الإسلام وأحوالهم الاجتماعية والعقائدية ثم نزول الوحي على سيدنا (محمد). وبدء الدعوة الإسلامية فالهجرة النبوية إلى يثرب وغزوات الرسول الكريم وسراياه حتى فتح مكة ووفاة خاتم المرسلين"صلى الله عليه وسلم". ثم يتعرض من بعد إلى عصر الخلفاء الراشدين الربعة بما فيه من أحداث حاسمة في تاريخ الأمة الإسلامية كحروب الردة وانطلاق حركة الفتوح والفتنة الكبرى في عهد كل من (عثمان بن عفان) و(علي بن أبي طالب) "رضي الله عنهما".. فإذا فرغ من عرض أحداث هذا العصر عرج من ثم إلى عصر الخلافة الأموية وما شهده من وقائع جسيمة وقد حرص كاتب هذه الدراسة على عرض الآراء المختلفة في كل أمر من هذه الأمور حتى لا يتسم الكتاب بطابع تاريخي بحت لا مكان للرأي فيه.
