ولئن جاءت الترجمة العربية لهذا الكتاب متأخرة بثلاثين سنة بعد ظهور طبعته الإنجليزية الأولى، فإن في إعادة طبعه عدة مرات بالإنجليزية ثم ترجمته إلى عدة لغات من لغات المسلمين كالفارسية والتركية والإندونيسية والبوسنية، لشهادة كافية على أهمية ما احتوى عليه من أفكار وما قدمه من منهج في معالجة موضوع ما انفك الجدل حوله محتدماً الجدل حوله محتدماً في الساحة الفكرية في العالم العربي.
