تتناول الدراسة ظاهرة بروز أكراد سوريا عقب التطورات التي أحدثتها الاحتجاجات ضد نظام بشار الأسد منذ عام 2011، مستهلة بخلفية عامة حول مناطق الوجود الكردي وتاريخه، والتعريف بالقوى الكردية السياسية والفصائل المسلحة، وأبرز الشخصيات الفاعلة فيها، مع نقاط القوة والضعف لديها، وعلاقاتها مع أكراد تركيا، ومن ثم تبحث الدراسة في المطالب السياسية للأكراد السوريين، ومواقف النظام السوري والمعارضة منها، مع بيان تأثير صعود الحالة الكردية في سوريا في مصالح القوى الإقليمية والدولية وسياساتها، وفي العلاقات البينية فيما بينها، وكيف أسهم التحالف الدولي بقيادة الولايات المتحدة في حربه على تنظيم الدولة¬ في تمكين الفصائل الكردية من السيطرة وإدارة مناطق شمال شرق سوريا، وتوفير الغطاء السياسي لها.
تركز الدراسة الاهتمام على الدور التركي تجاه تطلعات الأكراد السوريين؛ لاعتبارات كثيرة، لعل أبرزها طبيعة العلاقة التداخلية بين الفصائل الكردية المسيطرة على شمال سوريا، وحزب العمال الكردستاني-التركي، المصنف إرهابياً، والذي يسعى إلى فصل مناطق شرق تركيا وتأسيس دولة خاصة بالكرد.
وتختتم الدراسة بمحاولة استشراف مستقبل مشروع أكراد سوريا، وحجم تأثير الدور التركي فيه.
