يرتئي هذا البحث أن دعوى أكثر الشعوب الغربية (الإسبان) معرفة بالإسلام والمسلمين لم تثمر إلا الجهل والتحريف؛ فلم تترك لغيرها بابا من أبواب التدليس والتلبيس إلا طرقته، ومن ثم فهي تخسر فرصة تاريخية في النهوض بمسؤولية الحوار الديني على شروط من العدل والإنصاف، من منطلق الجوار التاريخي خلال الوجود الإسلامي في الأندلس، أو من منطلق الجوار الجغرافي مع القطر المغربي.
ويتوسل هذا البحث في إنجاز غرضه، وتحقيق دواعيه، بمنهجية واصفة للمتن ومضمونه، ناقدة للمعنى وسياقاته التاريخية والدينية، متفحصة للمقاصد وغاياتها، راصدة للآفات وهناتها، واضعة الحق حيث تراه في منزلته، وطارحة الباطل حيث تراه في رتبته.
وتكمن قيمة صنيعة هذا البحث في إسهامه في كشف صورة الرسول محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم في حقل الفكر الإسباني المعاصر، مثلا كشفه غره في حقول معرفية أخرى؛ غير أنه خاض هذا المعترك بأدوات ومتون غير التي اصطنعها غره في عمله، وكشف بنية وسياق ودلالة الخطاب الدائر حول صورته عليه السلام؛ حين تردد غيره في اقتحام صعابها من حيث الرؤية والمتن والدلالة الفكرية والدينية والسياسية والسياق التاريخي، فعسى أن يجد فيه النظار دعوة أولى إلى التأمل، فيمضوا إلى استكمالها بما يقتضيه المقام العلمي، والانتماء الحضاري.
