منذ مدة والجامعة الأميركية في بيروت تحاول جمع مختلف الوثائق والموارد غير المنشورة التي يمكن أن تلقي مزيداً من الضوء على تاريخها ودورها في لبنان والمنطقة. وبمناسبة إحتفال الجامعة بذكرى تأسيسها الخامس والعشرين بعد المائة خلال السنة الأكاديمية الماضية قررت اللجنة المشرفة على احتفاليات هذه الذكرى جمع كل الخطب والكلمات التي القيت خلال حفلات التخرج بدءًا بأول حفل سنة 1870 وحتى سنة 1920 عندما أصبحت الكلية السورية الإنجيلية الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت.
ولا شك بأن حفلات التخرج شكلت جانباً مهماً من نشاطات الجامعة وتراثها وهي تعطي فكرة واضحة عن المبادئ والقيم التي قامت عليها الجامعة والتي مكنتها من أن تلعب دوراً مميزاً في لبنان والمنطقة العربية خلال حقبة طويلة من الزمن.
