إنّ نواب يسوع المسيح، الذي يشكلون قاعدة له، هم تاريخيون بقدر كونهم من البشر الفانين (الذين) نُقلِت إليهم الوكالةُ، وبرغم ذلك فهم يقولون إنهم منصّبون مباشرة من الله، ومتجاوزون في الوقت ذاته لإضطرابات ومتاهات الزمان.
إذا كان ثمة رسالة توصلها إلينا كل أعمال البناء واللوحات البابوية على مدار القرون، فإنها هي هذه: يمكن للأحداث التاريخية بأمواجها العالية أن تهز البابوية وتدفعها تائهة، غير أنها تبقى، برغم كل صخب أقوياء هذا العالم، ثابتة وغير محطمة، لأنها تستطيع دوماً في الحالات الحرجة أن تستدعي لدعمها القوى السماوية.
من هذه الزاوية قدّمَ الباباواتُ، بموقفهم الإيديولوجي المعارض لاتجاهات الرّبح غير المحدود وإستغلال الإنسان للإنسان، أقدمَ شكل من أشكال نقد العولمة في التاريخ.
تستند هذه المعارضة على كل حال إلى مفهوم أن البشر - الذين وُضعت في تصرفهم جميعاً إرادةُ الخير - هم من دون رحمة الله، جانحون إلى الخطيئة، الأمر الذي يستدعي التصحيح الأخلاقي لمتابعة العمل ضد سوء إستخدام القوى الأرضية لهذا (الإنسان).
