يعد موضوع العولمة، مدار جدل جدي بين الأوساط الجامعية والإعلامية والإجتماعيين وعلماء النفس والفلاسفة والمفكرين وعلماء البيئة والطبيعة والتيارات السياسية والمجتمع المدني، ويلاحظ ذلك من خلال إعداد الندوات والمؤتمرات والمحاضرات والتحليلات التي لم تثمر عن شيء يذكر، لأن الإرادة الحقيقية غير متوفرة وأن مروجي ظاهرة العولمة مصرون بإستمرار بنهجهم، وأن هاجس الأكثرية في النخبة الوطنية المثقفة والواعية من الطرف الآخر ينتابها الشك والريبة بسبب الغموض الذي يلف هذا المصطلح الكوني (اللُغز) وعدم الحصول على الإجابات الوافية لأسئلة سبق وإن طُرحت في لقاءات سابقة مباشرة أو غير مباشرة...
ونسمع تطمينات وآمال تطلق من هنا وهناك من جهات محسوبة على العولمة، وحتى من جنسيات عربية بقصد الإقناع دون الإفصاح عن حقيقة ما يجري.
إن الترويج للعولمة قد ظهر بوضوح بعد إكتشاف الفضاء الخارجي ونصب الأجهزة الإستخباراتية المتنوعة (غزو الفضاء) وقيام حوادث عالمية نذكر من بينها التحول المفاجئ في الحرب الباردة، وتفكيك المعسكر الإشتراكي بعد حربي يوغسلافيا والعراق (الأولى) في التسعينات من القرن الماضي، وإنها حلف وارسو، وتحديد الترسانة النووية ورؤوس صواريخ سولت 2 من جانب السوفيت، وتدمير قسم منها زمن الرئيس يلسن من جانب واحد ودخول دول إشتراكية إلى الإتحاد الأوروبي (إتفاقية شنغن)، ومن ثم بدء رسم خارطة أمريكية جديدة للعالم (خارطة الطرق).
جاءت حرب أفغانستان ثم العراق ثانية والتدخلات في دارفور والصومال ولبنان، وتطويق سوريا والتلويح بتدمير إيران، ولكن الجدير بالذكر إن أول من أطلق اسم العولمة على هذه الظاهرة هو عالم الإجتماع الكندي ((مارشال ماك لولهن)) عام 1964.
