في دراسته هذه، يقدم الدكتور عمر كامل حسن عرضاً وتحليلاً لسياسات تطبيق المجال الحيوي في أكثر المناطق الجغرافية أهمية لكل القوى العالمية والإقليمية وهي منطقة الشرق الأوسط، وقد تم اتخاذ دولة (إيران) كنموذج تطبيقي للدراسة كونها تشكل أهم القوى الإقليمية الشرق أوسطية وذلك لاحتلالها موقعاً استراتيجياً متميزاً يمكنها الحفاظ على مجالها الحيوي الشرق أوسطي، من هنا يضع المؤلف دراسة تفصيلية لماهية المجال الحيوي قديمه وحديثه والتطورات المفاهيمية له ومدلولاته الجغرافية السياسية وكشف عن التطورات اللاحقة التي طرأت على الوسائل الحديثة في تحقيق أهداف المجال الحيوي وإدراك الأهمية الاستراتيجية لمنطقة الشرق الأوسط ثم عمد إلى دراسة عناصر القوة الجغرافية الإيرانية بأشكالها الطبيعية والبشرية والاقتصادية فضلاً عن تناوله المجالات الحيوية الشرق أوسطية في الاستراتيجية الإيرانية بدوائرها الجيوبولتيكية الثلاثة كما انصرف في هذه الدراسة إلى بيان أهم القوى الدولية والإقليمية التي تسعى للحصول على مجالات حيوية في هذه المنطقة الجيوستراتيجية بما فيه، الصراع الجيوبولتيكي الإقليمي والدولي في منطقة الشرق الأوسط والمتمثل بمحاولة الحصول على مكاسب (جيوبولتيكية) في سباق محموم بين إيران والولايات المتحدة الأميركية وإسرائيل وتركيا ودولاً إقليمية عربية أخرى تحاول أن تلعب دوراً متميزاً في الحصول على مصالح جيوستراتيجية.
وأخيراً ، توصلت الدراسة: "إلى أن إيران أحد أهم أركان القوى الشرق أوسطية وقد حققت دولة إيران نجاحات كبيرة من خلال استراتيجيتها الناجحة في إدارة الصراع الجيوبولتيكي الإقليمي والدولي والتأثير الفعال في الاستراتيجيات الغربية على هذه المنطقة الحيوية، إذ تبين أن جميع القوى الكبرى في العالم والقوة الإقليمية الشرق أوسطية لها مصالح لا تقل أهمية عن مصالح دولة إيران وهو ما يشكل معوقاً جيوسياسياً أمام كل هذه القوة مع بعضها لتحقيق مجالات حيوية متميزة وهذا بحد ذاته جعل من المنطقة من بين أهم مناطق العالم التي تمتاز بالقلق الجيوبولتيكي، كما أن مستقبلها ينذر بمفاجآت وتغيرات لا يمكن التحكم بها".
