نقرأ في هذا الكتاب "ثلاث مقالات قديمة في الأدب والسياسة والموسيقى" أعاد قراءتها وحقق فيها العلامة محمد ميرزا الباقر. المقالة الأولى: في الإنشاء للأستاذ عبد الحميد الكاتب الشهير المتوفي سنة (132ه) ، وفي هذه المقالة يتحدث المؤلف عن صناعة الكتاب فيوجه حديثه إلى الكتاب، من أهل الأدب والمروءات والعلم والرزانة، ويوضح مكانتهم عند الملوك، لذلك فهم لا بدّ أن يكونوا على حالة من الحكمة كتومين للأسرار، متفقهون في الدين" وابدأوا بتعليم كتاب الله عز وجل والفرائض، ثم العربية فإنها ثقاف ألسنتكم" ، "وليكن في مجلسه متواضعاً حليماً، وفي سجلات خراجه واستقضاء حقوقه رفيقاً". أما المقالة الثانية فهي: في السياسة وهي نسخة عهدٍ إلى فخر الدولة عن الطائع لله من إنشاء أوحد الكتاب أبي إسحاق الصابي وتبدأ بـ : هذا ما عهد عبد الله عبد الكريم الطائع لله أمير المؤمنين إلى فخر الدولة أبي الحسن بن ركن الدولة أبي علي مولى أمير المؤمنين ..." . وفي نسخة العهد هذه، يبدو أمر التكليف والطاعة لأمير المؤمنين فيما عهد إليه في إدارة البلاد وأعمال الحرب واستخراج الزرع والجزيات وسائر وجوه الجبايات والعرض والعطاء وأهمها الولاء الصريح للحاكم أمير المؤمنين. وتأتي المقالة الثالثة: في الموسيقى للإمام أبي عمرو بن بحر الجاحظ المصري المتوفي سنة (255ه) وهي مأخوذة من كتابه "طبقات المغنين" وفيها يتحدث عن اللحون ومعرفة أجزائها وأقسامها ومقاطعها وأوزانها وعن الغناء وحسنه من قبيحه وصحيحه من سقيمه.
