ولأنها كثيرة الروايات التي تناولت سيرة الإمام المنتظر، منها صحيحة، ومنها مكذوبة أو مدسومة، دأب المرجع الجليل السيد الشيرازي إلى تدوين سيرة الإمام الحجة في كتاب يحمل عنوان (عبير الرحمة) حيث يخص السيرة المهدوية ويرد على المزاعم التي تصوّر الإمام المهدي بأنه رجل قتل ودم ... ملفتاً النظر إلى دور الروايات التاريخية المدسوسة في بلورة هذا التصوّر المغلوط، عامداً إلى تمحيص أسانيد هذه الروايات وبيان مدى سقمها، ليخرج بتحليل علمي دقيق مفاده أن جميع تلك المرويات إن لم تكن واهية من الأساس، فمطعون في بعض رجال سندها ... كما يلفت سماحته بعد ذلك إلى أهيمة أن يعرف الإنسان المؤمن ما هي المسؤولية الملفاة على عاتقه في عصر الغيبة، ... مشيراً إلى التزام المحبّين بما تملي عليهم المسؤولية في العمل بالواجبات وترك المحرمات.
يضم الكتاب مجموعة من المحاضرات التي ألقاها المؤلف خلال مسيرته الدعوية عن الإمام الحجة المنتظر وفيها: سيرته بعد الظهور والروايات الصحيحة، والأحاديث الموضوعة، والمسؤولية في عصر الغيبة، والإقتداء بالسلف الصالح، وأسلوبه في الإدارة، ومنهجه في القضاء، وختم الكتاب بـ: رسائل الإمام الحجة للشيخ المفيد عن العلامة الطبرسي.
