ورغم أنّ هذا الإزاحة لم تكن كاملة، إذ ما تزال الولايات المتحدة تتكتّم على الكثير من الوثائق المتعلقة بنشاطاتها وعملياتها في ليبيا وفي الشرق الأوسط عامة، فإن أهمية الكتاب تتجاوز الدولة الليبية لتغطّي المنطقة العربية بكاملها.
فالوثائق التي يعود إليها المؤلف، والحقائق التي تكشف عنها هذه الوثائق، من شأنها أن تجعل القارئ يفغر فاه دهشة للدور الخطير الذي لعبته أمريكا، ليس في قيام إنقلاب الأول من سبتمبر فحسب، وإنما في معظم الإنقلابات العسكرية التي تعدّدت وتوالت تباعاً في البلاد العربية منذ أواسط القرن العشرين، كما أنّ من شأنها أن تلقي الضوء على طبيعة السياسة الأمريكية الخفيّة في منطقتنا العربية، ودورها الأساسي في معظم الإضطرابات التي حدثت وتحدث في المنطقة، وكذلك ألاعيب السياسة الأمريكية التي تختار بها رجال الإنقلابات بنفسها، وترعاهم، وتشرف على تهيئتهم للحكم، وتوفر كل الشروط الضرورية لنجاح إنقلاباتهم، ثم تدع العالم بعد ذلك يعتقد أنها مع الديموقراطية والحرية والعدالة في هذه البلاد، وأنها ضحية للأذى الذي نالها وينالها من هذه التماثيل العسكرية التي صنعتها ولم بيديها.
