لقد كان اللسان هو الوسيلة العملية للإبلاغ عن الله تعالى، وللتفاهم بين الناس في ما يحتاجون إليه من أمور الدنيا والآخرة. وكان الكتاب الخالد الذي أنزل بلسان عربي مبين - آخر ما جاء لهداية الإنسانية قاطبة، فحمله المؤمنون به, يبلغونه ويعلمونه جيلاً بعد جيل، الى أن فشت ظاهرة اللحن في الكلام, لأسباب متعددة منها: دخول غير العرب في الإسلام، وانتشار اللحن حتى وصل الى تلاوة القرآن الكريم، مما دفع علماء الأمة الى أن يبحثوا عن وسيلة لحفظ الكتاب الكريم من اللحن، ومن ثم الرقي بمستوى الخاصة والعامة الى ضبط التلاوة وتجويدها, فتوصلوا فيما بعد لإيجاد ما سمي في ما بعد (علم النحو) فوضعوا في علم النحو كتباً وتآليف متعددة ومتنوعة, كانت الغاية منها ضبط اللسان، وصونه عن الخطأ في الكلام, ومراعاة قواعد العربية في البيان. ونتيجة لضعف طلاب العلم في مادة النحو الإعراب، ولاسيما إعراب الجمل وشبهها فقد قام المؤلف بوضع هذا الكتيب جمع فيه أوضح ما ألف في إعراب الجمل لطلبة المدارس الإعدادية والثانوية والمعاهد الشرعية، وقد تم الاعتماد في تأليف هذا الكتاب على كتب ابن هشام، ثم على كتب أخرى في النحو والإعراب.
