تتكرر إذ في كثير من النصوص الأدبية نثرا كانت أو شعرا و لاتكاد تخلو فقرة في كلام عربي من هذه الأداة.
ومع كثرة الاستعمال نجد أن معانيها تحتاج إلى تحديد، لأنه قد تصعب التفرقة بين هذه المعاني لاختلاطها بعضها ببعض. ومن أجل ذلك كانت هذه الدراسة لإلقاء الضوء الكاشف على معاني هذه الأداة لتحديد الدلالة، وتوضيح القصد، وبيان الغرض.
وعرض معاني هذه الأداءة في ضوء الأساليب العربية، وعلى هذى المعاني النحوية ليتبين لنا من خلال البحث والدراسة ان نضع أيدينا على أساليبها المتعددة وطريقة استعمال كل أسلوب. وهذا من دون شك يساعدنا على أن نقف على أسرار الأساليب التى اشتملت عليها واستيعاب المعاني التىتعددت في مجالها وبذلك نضع النقاط على الحروف في قضية تحتاج إلى بحث جاد لأنها على حد تعبير المرادي عزت على الأذهان معانيها، وأبت الإدعان إلا لمن يعانيها.
