يقدم هذا الكتاب ألعاباً تعليمية بلغ عددها 111 لعبة، بعضها يمكن استخدامه كتمهيد للدرس والبعض الآخر في أثناء العرض والبعض الآخر كتقييم نهائي للحصة. ويعتمد توقيت استخدامها واختيارها على طبيعة الموقف الصفي والهدف المراد من استخدامها، وفي النهاية يعد المعلم هو القائد داخل الصف، فهو من يحدد ويختار اللعبة المناسبة، ولكن من المهم جدا أن لا يكون الاختيار عشوائيا أو لمجرد عمل لعبة أو ترفيه داخل الصف لا يتم توجيهها بطريقة تحقق لأهدافاً معينة، فنحن نريد التعلم باللعب أن يحقق مكاسب للطلبة والمعلمين على حد سواء، ويجعل البيئة التعليمية بيئة مثمرة.
لقد تم تقسيم فصول هذا الكتاب إلى أربعة فصول، الفصل الأول عبارة عن مقدمة نظرية عن التعلم باللعب من حيث تعريفه، وفوائده، ومعتقدات المعلمين عنه، وأنواع الألعاب التعليمية، والألعاب الشعبية، وقصور التعلم باللعب، وكيفية التدريس باستخدام التعلم باللعب، ودور المعلم ، وإرشادات في استخدام التعلم باللعب. أما الفصل الثاني فعبارة عن مجموعة من الألعاب التعليمية تعتمد على إعمال الفكر وعمليات التفكير مع دعم كل لعبة بمثال تطبيقي. وفي الفصل الثالث تم تقديم مجموعة من الألعاب التي تعتمد على الحركة مع مثال لكل لعبة. أما الفصل الرابع والأخير فقد تم تخصيصه للحديث عن الألعاب الشعبية العمانية وكيفية توظيفها في عملية التدريس، مع تقديم مثال لكل لعبة شعبية تم تقديمها في هذا الفصل.
