يعد الماء أساس الحياة على سطح الأرض، ومن أهم ثرواتها الطبيعية، ويرتبط التطور الاقتصادي في بلد ما، بتأمين الكميات الكافية والصالحة منه، ولا سيما في مجالات الاقتصاد الأساسية، سواء الزراعية منها أم الصناعية. وقد لوحظ مؤخراً الاهتمام المتزايد من قبل الباحثين بموضوع الحياة ومشاريعها في فلسطين، فظهر العديد من الكتب والنشرات، وكان كل منها يتناول أحد جوانب هذا الموضوع.
وهذا الكتاب يزود القارئ بمعرفة متكاملة لجميع جوانب بحث المياه. فبادئ ذي بدء يبين المؤلف في التمهيد مدى حرص التخطيط الصهيوني على تأمين تدفق المياه العذبة إلى فلسطين المحتلة في الاتجاهين السياسي والاستيطاني، كما تناول في الفصل الأول وادي الأردن وأهميته بسبب تركز معظم المشاريع المائية فيه بشكل مباشر وغير مباشر، مع وصف جغرافي موجز للوادي وموارده المائية، وحاجة الصهاينة لهذه الموارد من أجل تحقيق أهدافهم ومطامعهم. أما الفصل الثاني فيبحث في تمويل مشاريع المياه وإدارتها واستثمارها من أجل إصلاح الأراضي العربية المحتلة لاستقدام جموع المهاجرين اليهود إليها، وما أهم مصادر المياه في فلسطين، وكيف أحدثت المصادر الجديدة، كما يعرض المؤلف، وبإيجاز، لأهم الدراسات الهيدرولوجية (كمشروع لودر ميلك-ومشروع هايز-ومشروع جونستون) ولمشاريع استثمار المياه الرئيسية، من تجفيف مياه بحيرة الحولة، إلى مشروع تحويل مياه نهر الأردن إلى النقب، مبرزاً من ثم مشروع وصل البحرين المتوسط والميت، وأخيراً تحويل قسم من مياه نهر النيل لفلسطين عبر سيناء، وما سينجم عن ذلك من مكاسب اقتصادية وسياحية وعسكرية. وأما الفصل الثالث والأخير فيبين المؤلف فيه مدى استغلال الصهاينة لموارد المياه العربية السطحية منها والجوفية على حساب السكان العرب في الأراضي المحتلة (النقب، قطاع غزة، الضفة الغربية، هضبة الجولان) وأطماعهم بجنوب لبنان.
