يضمّ هذا المجموع الصغير في طيّاته أربعة كتب متقاربة المواضيع، وهي الكتاب الأول: "كشف الأسرار في حكم الطيور والازهار"، يقول مؤلفه في مقدمته: "وقد وضعت كتابي هذا مترجماً عمّا استفدته من الحيوان برمزه، والجماد بغرزه، وما خاطبتني به الأزهار عن حالها، والأطيار عن مقرّها وإرتحالها... وجعلته موعظة لأهل الإعتبار، وتذكرة لذوي الإستبصار، فاعتبروا يا أولي الأبصار". أهـ.
الكتاب الثاني: "تقبيح الحسن وتحسين القبيح"، أودع فيه مؤلفه لُمَعاً من غرز البلغاء ونكت الشعراء في تحسين القبيح وتقبيح الحسن؛ إذ هما غاية البراعة والقدرة على جزل الكلام في سرّ البلاغة وسحر الصناعة.
الكتاب الثالث: "نسيم الصَّبَا" جعله مؤلفه في ثلاثين فصلاً يقول عنها: "طالت فروعاً وطابت أصلاً، تشتمل على ألفاظ أرقّ من الشمول، ومعان بعيون عقائلها تفتن العقول... وأودعتها أبياتاً لغيري على وجه التضمين، محلياً جيد منثورها بالمنظوم من عقدها الثمين..." أهـ.
الكتاب الرابع: "صفة صاحب الذوق السليم ومسلوب الذوق"، وعنوانه يدلّ على مضمونه.
