ما من شك في أن التعرض لموضوع المرأة - كما للإنسان عموماً (ذكراً وأنثى)، في "الفكر" المنسوب إلى الدين، سواء في "الأديان" السابقة لما تم الإتفاق على تسميتها بــ"الرسالات السماوية" المعروفة لدينا، أم معها وبعدها، مسألة بالغة المسؤولية والدقة والتعقيد، وذات عناوين متشعبة ومتعددة، يندر أن نجا من تداعياتها كاتب أو مفكر أو فيلسوف أو مجتهد... وقد كتب في ذلك كثيرون، انقسموا في المنطلقات والتفسير والأغراض والأهداف فجاءت الخلاصات متباينة.
لهذا لقد سعى المؤلف من خلال فصول هذا الكتاب إلى تبيان حقيقة (بعض) التصورات الجامحة اللاهثة وراء مشروعية من النص الذي لا يرقى الشك إليه، تستجدي سنداً يخول تصوراتها الوقوف على قائمتين ثابتتين، ولم تفلح، فراحت تفتش عن "مشروعية" في أمكنة أخرى وجدتها في "روايات" أو "مرويات" تدور كل الشكوك حول صحة نسبها، لتناقضها مع النص الأساس، ولتآلفها مع سلوكيات ما قبل الدين في "الجاهلية" ولتعارضها مع سلوكية من ينسب إليه "حديث" أو "مروية".
وأن هذا الكتاب في المقام الأول، محاولة لإستعادة النقاش حول عناوين بعض هذه السلوكيات في حوار عقلاني، هادئ، متزن، موضوعي وعلمي، بهدف وضعها في إطارها الصحيح وتنقيتها من الشوائب وما علق بها من أدران بغير تبصر ولا هدى، والعودة بها إلى الأساس... إلى الحياة كما أرادها الله تعالى، لا سيما وأنها تتعلق بالإنسان... الإنسان الذكر والأنثى... الأفراد والجماعات.
كما تعمّد الكاتب التركيز في بحثه هذا، والإستطالة، ما أمكن، على وضع المرأة في "الثقافة" الدينية المنسوبة إلى الرسالة المحمدية في بضع العناوين وليس كلها.
