يمكن اعتبار كتاب: تدريس فنون اللغة العربية بين النظرية والتطبيق، نهجاً أكاديمياً لافتاً في (طرائق التدريس) الخاصة باللغة العربية يساعد طلاب كلية التربية والمعلمين والباحثين في تدريس هذه المادة (لغة القرآن الكريم) والتي تمثّل أهمية عظمى في حياة وتاريخ وحاضر ومستقبل كل الناطقين بالضاد من أبناء الأمة العربية والإسلامية.
يقسم الكتاب إلى اربعة عشر فصلاً مُدعمة بالأمثلة والنماذج التطبيقية المتعددة فاشتملت الفصول على: مفهوم طريقة التدريس وأهم الطرائق العامة في تدريس اللغة العربية، كما تم تناول أهم خصائص اللغة العربية ووظائفها في الإتجاهات الحديثة في تعليم اللغة العربية، ومنها الإستماع متناولاً مفهومه وأهميته وآدابه وأسسه، وكيفية إعداد الدرس للمعلم وعناصر خطة الدرس من حيث (الأهداف – المحتوى – الوسائل) وما إلى ذلك من عناصر خطة الدرس. أيضاً تناول الكتاب مفهوم القراءة (المطالعة العربية) والقضايا والمشكلات التي تواجه المعلمين والطلاب في تدريس القراءة. كما تم تناول تدريس (التعبير) وأسسه وأنواعه وطرائق تدريسه، و (الإملاء) وكيفية اختيار موضوعات الإملاء، وغيرها من موضوعات مثل: تدريس (الخط العربي) ، (الأدب ومفهومه ووظيفته) ، (فن البلاغة العربية) ، (فن تدريس النحو العربي) ، ومفهوم الأنشطة اللغوية اللاصفية. وأخيراً يعتني الكتاب بمجموعة من مشكلات اللغة العربية بالشرح والتفصيل محاولاً علاج بعض هذه المشكلات.
